Service Description

**Winter registration open Nov 23rd for newsletter subscribers and Nov 25th for general registration.** Using basic tools–a needle and thread–you can create simple or complex patterns with a handful of stitches. Whether you want to add something extra to your favorite clothes or enjoy the meditative quality of embroidery, this workshop will teach you eleven stitches to get you started. The workshop will cover beginner basics to get started: how to thread a needle, discussion of whether or not to use knots in your embroidery, how to transfer designs, and how to hoop your fabric (or not!). We’ll create an embroidery sampler with eight different stitches that are the building blocks for all other stitches. Class kit is $20 and includes a 5” hoop, 3 pieces of fabric, a marking pen, embroidery floss, needles, instructions, and a resource list. Payable by cash, check or Venmo @Beverly-ArmyWilliams ********************* Date: Sunday, Mar 23rd from 9am - 12pm Skill Level: No experience needed Ages: 16+, 13+ with paying adult About your teacher... Beverly Army Williams has been smitten with textiles and fiber arts since she was seven. An avid crocheter, knitter, weaver, quilter, and garment maker, she has been embroidering for 18 years. Her early projects used transfers from Sublime Stitching–roller derby girl aprons, French knot poodles onesies, and whimsical chihuahua tea towels. After a class with Cal Patch, Beverly broke free from patterns to embark on numerous long-term embroidery art projects. She has studied with Sarah Pedlow of Thread Written, Claire Wellesley-Smith, Adriana Torres and Ekta Kaul. Beverly has shared her love of embroidery teaching at her local Women on the Way club, and in her Slow Fashion course at Westfield State University. When not stitching, Beverly teaches writing, makes poems, plays with watercolors, and hikes with her husband and two dogs.
