Service Description

**Garment Foundations will resume this fall with registration in early August!** Garment Foundations is an 8 week series to help you learn how to sew garments on your level! New sewers check out the Beginner description. If you've taken GF before, check out the Returning Student description! Beginner: This 8 week class will take you through 2 basic garments: a pair of pajama pants and a t-shirt (short sleeve or long sleeve). Patterns are included with the class. Fabric is available for purchase from the studio. You will receive an email after registration with a materials list and a link to purchase from the studio. Returning Student: After you've completed the Beginner Garment Foundations use these 8 weeks as an Independent Study class. Bring your own garment patterns and we'll work with you to learn the techniques! This is not a fitting, pattern altering, or pattern drafting class. The focus is learning those more advanced foundational techniques. Contact us if you need ideas for which pattern to use. Ages: 16 and up, 13 and up with enrolled parent or with special permission Skill Level: Beginner with a minimum of Adult Sewing Machine 101, Sewing Foundations or similar experience. Makeup Days: If you miss a class due to illness, travel, quarantine, etc. you are allotted one Open Workshop as a makeup to complete your project. Each student is only allowed one makeup per session. Skills Learned: -Taking measurements -Selecting pattern size -Preparing patterns -Working with woven and knit fabrics -Seam finishes -Hemming knit and woven fabric -Making a casing and adding elastic -Setting a sleeve -Finishing a neckline on a knit shirt


Cancellation Policy

-A minimum enrollment must be met by 48 hours prior to the workshop or the workshop may be cancelled. If this happens you will receive a full refund. -You may cancel for a refund or transfer your registration up to 1 week before a one-time workshop, 2 weeks before a Foundations or After School series and 4 weeks before a camp. There are no refunds or class transfers for guest teachers. After this date there will be no refunds or transfers unless we are able to fill your spot from a waitlist. -Hartford Stitch reserves the right to cancel a class at any time. Should we do so you will receive a full refund. -No shows forfeit any refund or transfers. -Hartford Stitch reserves the right to substitute teachers either for a single class or the entire session if necessary.
